Yesterday, at the Samsung Unpacked event, the company announced the latest in its Note line of smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Note8. Samsung is still in recovery mode after the disaster of the Note7, that had to be recalled not once, but twice. During the event, Samsung didn’t try to brush the bad experience people had under the rug, and sincerely apologized for it. At one point they were thanking the fans of the Note who stuck by them, even when they disappointed them. It was great to see a company really own up to their mistakes. This is one reason people are confident this phone has been tested extensively. Samsung does not want a repeat of the Note7.

The Note8 will have a lot of features packed into it, including the one thing people love the most about the Note line, a stylus. The S Pen has been improved even further with thousands of points of pressure sensitivity. It will be able to launch a notepad without unlocking the phone for power users to jot down quick notes that will appear on the lock screen.

Another area the Note excels at is multitasking. With its extra large screen, there is plenty of space to view a couple of apps at the same time. You will be able to turn on Multi Window mode to have two apps open at the same time. And for those two apps that you use together, App Pairing presets let you open them simultaneously with a tap.

The camera has received a bit of an upgrade from the standard S8 series and features dual cameras on the back so pictures can be taken more dynamically. Both of the back cameras have optical image stabilization (OIS) to create steadier shots and videos. Since both cameras are activated during the Live Focus mode, you can adjust the background blur after the photo has been taken.

This phone is definitely going to be one to watch. You can pre-order the device now, but they will hit the stores on September 15th.
