Mac Support Monitoring
Macs are everywhere in Utah businesses now: designers and marketers in Lehi, executives in Salt Lake City, engineers and developers across the Wasatch Front. Too often, though, they are the devices IT forgets. They do not get encrypted, they fall behind on updates, and nobody can find the recovery key or remove Activation Lock when an employee leaves.
Business Mac support fixes that. It means every company-owned Mac is enrolled in Addigy for device management, protected by the same security standards as your Windows PCs, kept current on macOS and apps, and backed by a help desk your team can actually call.
Protek Support is a managed IT and cybersecurity provider based in Sandy, Utah. Since 2011 we have provided managed IT for small and mid-sized businesses, and we support PCs, Macs, servers, and mobile devices. Our Mac support covers the full lifecycle, from the day a new MacBook ships to the day it is securely wiped and retired.

Our Partners

Everything your Macs need to stay productive, secure, and supported, scaled to your team and budget.
When something breaks, your team calls one number: (801) 999-4767. Our technicians troubleshoot macOS, Microsoft 365 for Mac, printers, Wi-Fi, VPN, and line-of-business apps, usually remotely, with onsite visits when the problem needs hands-on help. See our Utah IT Help Desk and Remote IT Support services. Mac help desk and support are available 24×7.
We set up your organization in Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Manager), use Addigy as your device management (MDM) platform, and use Automated Device Enrollment. Protek handles hardware procurement for clients by buying Macs from Apple through Apple Business rather than retail, so new Macs enroll automatically during setup. Employees open the box, sign in, and get their apps, Wi-Fi, and security settings automatically.
We turn on FileVault full-disk encryption and store recovery keys in Addigy, not on sticky notes. We enforce firewall, Gatekeeper, screen-lock, and admin-rights policies, and add endpoint detection and response (EDR) on top of Apple’s built-in XProtect. Macs then feed into the same monitoring as the rest of your environment. Macs are covered by Protek’s 24/7/365 SOC monitoring. Learn more about our Cybersecurity Services.
Unpatched Macs are an easy target. We manage macOS updates with Apple’s declarative software update controls: users get a window to install at a convenient time, then the update is enforced by a deadline. Microsoft 365 apps, browsers, and other third-party apps are kept current too, and we test major macOS releases before rolling them out to your team.
Most offices aren’t all one platform. We manage Macs and PCs under one set of standards: the same Microsoft 365 tenant, the same multi-factor authentication and Conditional Access rules, shared file and printer access, and one help desk. Where it fits your environment, Macs can sign in with Microsoft Entra ID credentials through Platform SSO. See our Cloud Services for Microsoft 365 support.
We handle hardware procurement for clients by buying Macs from Apple through Apple Business rather than retail, then automatically enroll and assign them for new hires. We lock, wipe, and reassign Macs when people leave. Because company Macs are owned by your Apple Business account, Activation Lock can’t strand a device. We track warranty, AppleCare, and age so you can plan replacements before a Mac stops getting macOS updates. See Employee Onboarding & Offboarding and Hardware Asset Management.
A practical five-step process for bringing every Mac under management.
We find every Mac (plus iPhones and iPads, if you want them managed), then record its model, macOS version, encryption status, warranty, and who uses it. We flag Intel Macs and any device that cannot run a supported macOS version.
We review how your team works, what apps they need, and what security or compliance rules apply. Then we configure Addigy for device management, set up or clean up your Apple Business account, and connect it to your Microsoft 365 or other identity provider.
New Macs enroll automatically in Addigy through Automated Device Enrollment. If you already have another MDM, we can remove it and move your Macs to Addigy seamlessly, without wiping devices or disrupting users. On every device we turn on FileVault, deploy security tools and core apps, and apply your update and access policies.
Your employees get one place to call for help, plus simple instructions for requesting support. We document your Mac standards in your client documentation so every technician works from the same playbook.
We monitor compliance, patch continuously, and review your Mac fleet with you as part of our vCIO services. That includes aging hardware, upcoming macOS changes, and budget for replacements.

Business Mac support covers the full life of every company Mac: help desk and troubleshooting, near zero-touch setup through Apple Business, Addigy device management (MDM), FileVault encryption, macOS and app updates, endpoint security, backup, and secure offboarding when an employee leaves. The goal is to manage, secure, and support Macs to the same standard as Windows PCs, with one team responsible for both.
Yes. Protek supports Macs, PCs, servers, and mobile devices, and many offices run more than one platform. We apply one set of standards across both: the same Microsoft 365 accounts, multi-factor authentication, security policies, file sharing, and help desk. Microsoft 365 apps, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and OneDrive, run natively on Mac, so your team can collaborate no matter which computer they use.
Yes. Once a Mac is enrolled in Addigy, we can push apps, settings, security policies, and macOS updates over the internet, check encryption and compliance, and lock or erase a lost or stolen Mac, whether it is in the office or at an employee’s home. For hands-on help, our technicians can connect to the Mac remotely with the user’s permission, and we can come onsite when a hardware problem needs it.
Apple Business is Apple’s free platform for organizations, and it replaced Apple Business Manager, Apple Business Essentials, and Apple Business Connect in April 2026. It lets a company register the Apple devices it owns, enroll them automatically in Addigy, buy and assign apps, and create Managed Apple Accounts. If your business buys Macs, iPhones, or iPads for employees, you should have an Apple Business account, because it is what makes near zero-touch setup and Activation Lock control possible.
Yes, for business use. macOS includes strong built-in protections such as Gatekeeper, notarization, and XProtect, but those are designed to block known malware. They are not built to give a business central visibility, alerting, or incident response. Businesses should add endpoint detection and response (EDR) that reports to a monitored security platform, plus FileVault encryption, managed updates, and multi-factor authentication.
We use Addigy to control macOS updates. Users get a window to install each update at a convenient time, and a deadline makes sure it is installed. Major macOS upgrades are tested before we approve them, and Microsoft 365 and other third-party apps are patched on their own schedule. This matters because Apple now manages and enforces updates through declarative device management, and Microsoft 365 for Mac supports only the three most recent major macOS versions.
We revoke the person’s accounts, lock or remotely erase the Mac, and keep company data from leaving with them. Because company Macs are registered in Apple Business and enrolled in Addigy, we can clear Activation Lock and reassign the Mac to the next employee without needing the former employee’s password. Their files can be preserved in OneDrive or your backup before the Mac is wiped.
Only for a limited time. Apple confirmed that macOS Tahoe 26 is the final macOS release for Intel Macs, and macOS 27, released in September 2026, runs only on Macs with Apple silicon. Intel Macs that run Tahoe are expected to get security updates for about two more years. Businesses still using Intel Macs should plan replacements now, and we can help you budget for them.
